Happy Mother’s Day all

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Just a quick greeting to all the great mom’s out there to wish you a happy mother’s day - including mine of course - happy mother’s day!

We’ll have some interesting updates a bit later this month, so definitely stay tuned.

Model-independent overlays - the ultimate goal?

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

OK. We’re going to “geek out” on you a bit here. There’s been a lot of buzz recently about model-independent overlays when it comes to collecting and organizing data for feeds into aggregate trending models. As in any good system the separation of data from the mechanism for manipulating the data is key although in certain instances there is cohesion that can’t be completely avoided.

However, there can be sets of overlays that can be tied to specific instances of data organization and theoretically the data modeling can be optimized in such a way to maximize the number of potential overlays within certain overlay constraints. However, once again, the data and the overlays can’t be totally decoupled. That’s not hard to grasp from a “common sense” perspective, but as it turns out it’s quite difficult to prove conclusively.

Once again the time-factor is non-trivial in relation to the coupling/decoupling of data/overlay connections (also known as “n-realms”). Of course when dealing with any type of data collection that is derived from or has a bearing on specific markets and sub-markets naturally the element of time will be an important factor. But what’s surprising is the WAY in which time is a factor when manipulating data/overlay connections.

Furniture moving at RoboCrush

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

No, we’re not nuts. I know it seems like we’ve been moving around furniture like mad for no reason at all, but there is a method to our madness.

Just as we optimize our algorithms, we also on optimizing both our workflow and workspace design within the furniture “parameters” in place already. LOL…i.e., don’t expect any brand new furniture anytime soon - that means you, Doug! ;-)

If anyone has suggestions, please let us know.

The economy and RoboCrush

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Needless to say the economy is affecting a lot of businesses these days - and that includes RoboCrush.

We want to assure you that we’re in this for the long-haul and do not plan on throwing in the towel even duringĀ  these troubled financial times.

You may have seen the following news release:

“Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Jr. will discuss the economy and financial markets Monday at a meeting of the Wall Street Journal CEO Council. The meeting will bring together CEOs of major global companies for a two day meeting on the economy and the issues ahead.”

Of course there are a ton of factors to consider - not as many as in the RCFactor, though - ;)

Call out to Charlie

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

We felt like we just needed to do a call out to Charlie. You all know which Charlie we mean.

He did an amazing job debugging several of the newer automated test scripts.

I think we can all agree that it’s been helpful to go through the training on how to write automated tests and that once you get the hang of it it’s a joy to work with automated testing.

We still have one major area to tackle and that’s developing a better method for inserting and monitoring test start points and test completion points. I think we’re pretty close to figuring that out - well, I say “we” but I of course mean the programmers working on that part of the project.

Also, we’ve noticed a pick-up in the use of the automated test scripts that have been developed and we completely understand that getting into the habit of using them on a regular basis can be challenging at first.

One last shout out to Charlie and then we’re signing off here.
