Weekly Update

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Again, apologies for the delay on this update.

First of all lets semi-quash some rumors that have been flying around about us bringing on consultants to help with the test planning. We say “semi-quash” because the rumor is partially true.  We’ve been talking to a couple companies about our testing rollout, but it’s not as involved as a lot of people have intimated it is.

Mainly the companies that we’ve been talking to just do a basic analysis of test plans that we’re developing and write reports up about any structural defects at the very HIGHEST level of the testing plans. So one thing about that is…any criticisms or suggestions for improvements would NOT reflect on any of the work that the beta testers themselves are doing. It would reflect more on the guidance and instructions that we at RoboCrush are giving to the beta testers.

Hopefully that puts that to bed…at least until the next consultancy rumor comes along. LOL. We’ve been in the biz long enough to know that those will pop up from time to time and honestly at some point it probably will make sense to bring on some short to medium term consultants.

Last weeks testing cycles with prepared data went well and this week we’ll be going more into how to create test data on your own by using some of our test-data prep programs and also using some of the utilities available to write quick scripts for creating test data.

Weekly update coming…

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Apologies for the lack of updates over the past couple days. We’ll be  doing a longer weekly wrapup to cover anything we didn’t get to over the past two days.

As expected we’ve become busier and have to do some regrouping and reorganizing to handle the new challenges that’s brought on.

Weekly WrapUp

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Time for another weekly wrapup and this has been a great week. Test script generation training went smooth as pie (huh?) and I think we’ve been able to nail down all of the savvy questions you brought to us. If there are still additionial questions please send them to Tad.

One of the main questions we discussed previously was when to use multi-scenario testing versus single scenario testing and it seems that everyone has a good grasp of that now.

It was nice to see so many of you already familiar with a structured walkthrough process and realize that although it may LOOK like it costs extra time it typically saves a lot of debugging time in the long run.

Next week we’ll be running some of the less critical tests with real data so that all of you can cycle through the entire testing process from script-generation onto final walkthroughs.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

As always, we’ll post updates over the weekend.

Weekly wrap-up

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Well, the end of the first week is upon us so it’s time to look back on the progress we have made. Pretty impressive so far.

  • The beta tester selection process has been finalized.
  • Mock error reporting has officially launched.
  • The initial iteration of graphing fine-tuning has begun.
  • Video formats for training have been selected.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

We’ll continue to post any relevant updates over the weekend and will also be putting together a specific week-by-week agenda/schedule for the beta testers.

Programmers…you still have to work! ;-) Just kidding. Have a great weekend!
